A desiccation or drying out of the intravertebral disc which can be seen in some individuals as early as their mid 20’s and commonly seen throughout later years of life.

Symptoms:

Localized neck or low back pain, often worsened with activities that lead to increased pressure on the disc. This would typically include activities which require prolonged sitting, bending, and heavy lifting.
